The newest restaurant in Lebanon isn't actually a new restaurant at all, but instead is a new offering from Gusanoz. Gusanoz is now offering Revolutionary Burger, a takeout and delivery service designed to provide you with better alternatives to fast food. Revolutionary Burger offers a higher quality, locally made alternative to fast food: burgers made from beef that's never been frozen, fries made from an entire potato, shakes made the traditional way - from ice cream and milk and syrups, not thickened with additives.

Maybe you've heard about the local food movement but do you know why people think it's so important? Is industrialized food, whose goal is to make money for corporations rather than feed people better, a good thing? With e coli and salmonella contamination causing food recalls to be constantly in the news and reports of ammonia in the ground beef used in fast food burgers and school lunches, are you concerned about where your food comes from?

Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday this year, and you may find some restaurants which are normally closed on Sunday (like Tip Top Cafe) open instead on this important day for dining. You're also likely to find that brunch spots are busier than usual and offering Valentine's Day specials. Some restaurants will also be offering Valentine's specials on Saturday the 13th.

January is the traditional time for people to start trying to take better care of themselves, or at least make up for the excesses of December (and give themselves a platform for dealing with the coming excesses of February through November). With that in mind, many people resolve to eat better and hit the gym.
The idea of "eating better" has become more and more difficult to define in recent years. Sometimes people mean better quality food - but even that notion is a complex mess - organic? local? non-GMO? anti-oxidants? low fat? low carb? (for a good perspective on these issues and in fact, this kind of thinking, check out Michael Pollan's recent book ("In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto"). For this article I'm going to focus on just eating fewer calories as for many people at this time of year, healthier eating means losing weight.
UVFood has several resources that can help you find places that can help you eat better.

You won't find many places to go out to eat on Christmas day - even McDonald's and Denny's are closed then (that is a slight exaggeration; many fast food restaurants are open Christmas morning). You have two options for an actual Christmas dinner on Christmas day: the Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm, and Juniper Hill Inn in Windsor.

Sorry for the slow time; I've had a few articles I'd been meaning to write as well as some improvements to the software (the big one being replies to reviews and usefulness ratings), as well as a couple of bug fixes, but we suddenly have a buyer for our home and are very crunched for time until the end of the month. So, look forward to some new material, updates to the listings, new menus, and new features in the fall.
Thanks for your patience! - john romkey

One of the Upper Valley's newest farmer's markets, the Hanover Farmer's Market returns this Wednesday, June 3rd, from 3PM to 6PM.
If you're familiar with where the market was located last year (on top of the parking garage), you'll want to go to its new location this year.
For the first and last two weeks of the season, the market will be held on College Street. For the rest of the season it will be held on the Dartmouth Green, a much improved location from its first year.
