Here's the latest in restaurant news for the Upper Valley area for fall 2009, with the usual openings and a couple of surprise closings.

Carpaccio's old space in Hanover didn't stay empty for long. Chef John Hester has opened Salubre Trattoria, a Mediterranean-themed restaurant where you're as likely to find hummus or paella as you are pasta and gelato. Salt Hill's new Hanover location is still in the works with no definite opening date. Stay tuned and UVFood will update you as soon as there's news.

Claremont saw a lot of activity over the summer. New England chain The Common Man opened a new inn/restaurant that has been well-reviewed. Japanese steak-house and sushi bar Kouzou opened in the original location of Bistro Noveau, and Sophie & Zeke's old location became home to the new Italian restaurant Carmella's. Sadly Sophie & Zeke's closed their new, larger location and is no longer in business.

In Lebanon, Parthenon Pizza opened in the old Domino's location. Also, the 4 Aces Diner has reopened under new management. Lebanon's Lebanon Nutrition closed.

Local bagel chain Bagel Basement opened a new location in the Upper Valley Aquatic Center but also suddenly closed their Lebanon store.
