Mother's Day in the Upper Valley

Beyond the traditional gift of flowers for Mother's Day (this Sunday, May 11th), many people celebrate by taking their moms to brunch, the unholy love child of breakfast and lunch. While the Upper Valley has had few brunch offerings in the past, these days there are many more options to chose from.

The 800 pound gorilla in any local restaurant room, Simon Pearce is now offering Sunday brunch. And Home Hill Inn has recently reopened after a year-long closure, and also offers brunch. The The Norwich Inn offers one of the best brunches in the area, and The Woodstock Inn offers an extensive buffet that dwarfs any other local offering.

You can find a full list of area restaurants offering brunch by following the brunch tag.

Mother's Day brunch is usually very, very crowded, so be sure to call for reservations ahead of time, even if the restaurant doesn't usually take reservations. And if you're not looking for something fancy, remember that at most diners it's brunch all day long.

Even if you don't go out for brunch, you can easily do a nice brunch at home; get some nice baked goods from a local bakery, scramble some eggs and you'll have a lovely meal for your mom.
