WOW! We always enjoyed Elixer and thought it was OK. Skip & Jane have really taken Elixer to the next level. Hands down the best meal we have had in the Upper Valley in years! The only bad thing was trying to decide what to order. EVERY single item looked wonderful, not just one or two. Cannot wait to go back. I suggest reservations on Friday nights. Not sure how the rest of the week is...perhaps we'll have to go every night this week to find out :)

Elixir's is fantastic, with the best shrimp risotto I've ever had--and I'm not a big fan of rice. Scallps were terrific as well. Lots of luck to the owners--we'll continue to support the restaurant!

THE ABSOLUTE BEST DINING FOR THE PRICE IN THE UPPER VALLEY! I happily eat at Elixir twice a week. Sometimes more. It's wonderful. I've never had anything that wasn't prepared to perfection.

We have eaten at Elixir's several times and have enjoyed all our selections. This is where we take our guests. Presentation of food and friendly staff along with good music have kept us coming back.

First visit, and pleasantly surprised. The menu is creative, with a special $23 prix fixe offered. Attractive decor, attentive staff, excellent meal. Live entertainment has been temporarily halted because of patron concerns about "intrusive" music. We will definitely return.

Beautiful place, eclectic menu, nice vibes. The servers kept forgetting things, but they were nice enough that it made up for it!

Raves for the new Elixir! After three visits (October and November 2009) I judge it's the best restaurant now in the Upper Valley, with the possible exception of Simon Pearce. It's the food! The new chef comes from Nice, in Southern France. He understands flavors. His presentation is worth a photograph, as in last night's seared scallops with pea puree and thin, thin, thin potato crisps. The lamb shanks with rosemary and pork loin stuffed with goat cheese were peerless. Good selections of interesting wines from around the globe, many at $6 or less per glass. They are geared up for Northern Stage, a three-course prix fixe of $24, with choices. We've been watching this space for several years, hoping for a "vaut le voyage" experience; and now we've had it.

New Elixir review:

We recently had the chance to try out Elixir now that it has reopened under new management. The food was good, the service was a little spotty. However, they'd only been open two days when we went; I wouldn't judge any restaurant's service when they'd only been in business for two days.

I had the beet salad, which was near-perfect although I might have wished for a bit more beet in it. My partner had the cheddar soup, which was a bit thin. We both had the pulled pork sandwiches, which were very tasty. We'll be happy to return sometime.

I think that for me, what the new Elixir suffers most from is simply comparison with the old Elixir. I'm a huge fan of tapa-sstyle small plates, and serving mostly small plates really set the old Elixir apart from other area restaurants. It's much more similar now, which doesn't make it bad at all, but requires a little readjustment in my thinking about it.

review of the old Elixir: Good, fun creative food. The space is a bit loud with a lot of hard, reflective surfaces, especially when someone's playing music. I wish there were more restaurants like Elixir in the area.

Yay to the new Elixir. Much more affordable and better quality. I really like the atmosphere and live music. It's only been two weeks so service is a little shaky, but that still makes it better than most. Truffled sliders were amazing! We are so happy to have a new place to go in the upper valley.

Don't expect traditional tapas, but the food is very good and it's a fun place to eat.
