We went to the North Country Smokehouse special dinner recently and the food was great. Each course was incredibly tasty (I think that the brisket on brioche course was my favorite; the brisket was delicate and flavorful and matched perfectly with the brioche; the slaw that came with it was perfect).
I worry that too many people may not realize how much Home Hill Inn has changed since its previous incarnation. This is an almost totally different place. The food is still fantastic but it's both cheaper and more accessible. If you seek out really good food and haven't been to Home Hill Inn yet you're really missing out. |
Four of us had a memorable dinner 1/30/09. Home Hill Inn is worth the trip to Plainfield, and the seemingly endless drive on River Road. Each entree was delicious, creatively prepared. Scallops with pomegranate seeds in a sauce? Tasty! Good selection of reasonably priced wines. There were few other diners. I hope that those who enjoy excellent food will give this attractive "country inn and restaurant" a try. February 24th at 6:30, Home Hill Inn presents a "Jamaica Me Crazy" menu in their "Taste the World dinner series. Sound inviting?

Menu? Five-course tasting menu. Each course well-cooked and delicious. (And the wine pairings were successful.) However, the complete lack of salad and fresh vegetables and the combination of several hearty dishes was too much; plus three of the dishes were shades of brown, dark brown and cream - I longed for some variation in color!
Thumbs down.
