We LOVE Killdeer! Great fresh produce, great selection, great location, knowledgable staff! I do wish they had more plants at the farm stand on Rt 5 like they used too, but it is fun to go to the greenhouses if you have to - just a bit far sometimes when the stand is so nearby. Love the staff (although the older woman can be rude and not as friendly as the others)

I couldn't disagree with asm's review any more! Killdeer is fabulous. I love it! It is the best farm stand in the area hands down. Are some of their products pricey? Yes. But they are cheaper than comparable things at other places (e.g. grass fed beef, natural local chicken, and organic veggies, cheese) AND their stuff is ALWAYS fresh which I can't say for some of the other stands and farmer's markets where things lookl like they were picked days ahead. The other great thing about Killdeer is the knowledge of the staff. I don't think he is their son, and he can be flippant, but the guy knows not only what he sells, but what to do with it. I have gotten many great recipes and ideas form him. It is true that the larger stand is not as rustic as it once was, and they seem to be trying to sell most of their early season plants from the farm out on Butternut Road rather than at the stand, but if you go up there you will be rewarded with greenhouse after greenhouse of beautiful HEALTHY plants. It would be nice if nothing changed and farmers could sell the freshest produce AND send their kds to college and retire respectably, but the changes at Killdeer reflect their willingness to update and provide better service - I can get everything I need there for three healthy yummy meals a day for my kids almost entirely locally produced (did I mention CHEESE?). I recommend you check it out yourself and decide, but it is definitely staying on my list of bests!

I used to love this place and did a LOT of shopping there until:

1) their son with the snotty attitude was there so often

2) they lost a lot of their charm when the updated their look, now it's "pretty" to look at but the selection of plants is no where near what it used to be. I made a couple trips both last year and this year looking for pretty basic plants that I'd found there for years ...."Sorry,, we don't have any of those today....maybe tomorrow". At the price of gas I can't be bothered to make fruitless trips.

Their prices used to be fair and reasonable but now their non plant items are out of sight. Just one example, this year their corn was .75/ear compared to other local source at .45/ear

I'm sorry to have to cross them off my list.
