I love their outdoor seating, and their rolls with oil are addicting. They are awesome at letting you customize. I don't eat a lot of pasta and this really limits my options at most Italian restaurants, but at Lui Lui I can order any pasta dish with broccoli instead. Yum.
We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Lui Lui, and they did a fantastic job with that. We ordered several dishes family style and there was something for everyone. They put us in a private room downstairs with 2 long tables and it was perfect--casual and comfortable, good food, attentive service.

Rolls and oil and great - the Lobster Raviloi dish is a favorite! There can be a wait but the view is nice in the summer if you sit outside. Definitley an Upper Valley favorite!

Early dinner, short wait time, ended up downstairs by the kitchen entrance. Very busy high traffic area, not the best table location. Service was passable, the waitress had several other tables going. Large group nearby for a birthday, so it was loud. Meal was good, some disappointment by the portion size of the entree, Penne Steak Gorgonzola, (maybe 5 small pieces of steak) compared to the other entree of Tuscan Steak Tips which had likely 3 times the portion size of the steak on my entree. Out of PEI Mussels, went with Calmari for an appetizer which was tasty, this portion was large. Overall the meal was good, service as I said was OK. Seating upstairs is likely quieter. We had the large birthday group and another table had several young children nearby. Will certainly go back but will ask to be seated upstairs.

My mother is very hard to please. She usually sends things back, or it's too noisy, etc. She loves Lui Lui: pizza, meatball & spaghetti, veal parmesan, and more. My five grandchildren love it as well. It's a family restaurant with great food, clean accommodations, great service; I don't get what "Scampy" said, whoever that is. Salads are huge, fresh, colorful. No scrimping on anything. I'm sorry summer's gone; the patio is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy everything that Lui Lui has to offer. It's pretty telling that most evening's of the week, there's a bit of wait after six-ish. You get to hold that thing that blinks but you don't hold it for long.

I agree with those folks from "the other side" who think it equates with stateside Italian food.

Great place to have a party: birthday, retirement, shower, etc. That room downstairs is perfect and you get tons of good food for not much cost.

You can't lose at Lui Lui except your hunger pangs.

We have been going to Lui Lui since it opened, and have never had a bad meal. The ingredients ARE fresh and well prepared. They compare well to our favorite restaurants in Italy- not the fancy fancy ones, but the ones we go to for good, hearty, meals with pleasant people and families enjoying a night out. Our grown kids now make for Lui Lui when they come back to visit. If they try somewhere else they come home and (figuratively) do a "Could have gone to Lui Lui" head slap. Also love the river view.

One of our favorites. Casual atmosphere. Nicely decorated. Especially neat to get a window seat with a river view. Lots of menu choices. Always tasty. Service has always been excellent. Oh, that bread!

I am always amazed at the consistency of the 3 restaurants. Great value, great food, great service for the 10 years I've been visiting.
Only complaint. Too popular.

Lui Lui is one of the friendliest family oriented dining spots in the Upper Valley. In fact, at any one of the Blue Sky restaurants, families are always welcomed. The bar is a terrific spot for single customers as well as couples and friends.
If you're ever craving pasta, sauce, crisp salads and delicious meatballs and sausage, Lui's is the place to go.

I can't even begin to count to number of times I've been to Lui's either to eat there or to pick up food. It's a real family favorite and one of the few places where everyone can find something to eat. My personal favorite is the chicken piccata (hold the capers), which is really very good. I think of it, and some of the other dishes there, as a 2 meal dish. I always walk out of there with enough left for another lunch or dinner. It can be very busy and it can be quite noisy, but I've always found the staff to be hard working and cheerful. You can call ahead and get your name on the list, so there wait isn't quite so long. It's also nice that you can take the call button into the adjacent Powerhouse shops so waiting isn't the dead time it is at some other places. This is one of the few bright lights on a stretch of highway which otherwise just features national chain restaurants, most of them fast food.

As someone who had worked at Lui Lui for many years I can tell you it's one of the cleanest and well run restaurants around. They make almost everything from scratch and the place ia always busy. The managers and local owners make sure everything is done to the highest standards! The employees really care.

Every time we're back in the Upper Valley, we go to Lui Lui's! Somehow management always knows how to make the freshest foods with the freshest thoughts. . .and they have a sense of humor, too. For years Lui's pizza is a better taste treasure than even the "good" pizza chains like California Pizza Kitchen. Nobody else has a crust with just the right touch--not too much wheat, not too much yeast, not too thick and not too thin--tomato sauce that's sweet and tart, and just the right amount of cheese. Want a suggestion? Meet ZEPPO--ya better love pepperoni. And the pastas and rolls--YUM! And I wanna know one thing: what kind of kool-aid do the employees drink so they're always high-energy, know the menu, smile, have fun, treat you right and never ask dumb questions like "everything ok?"--if it was only ok, they know you'll go somewhere else. Whenever I go, I always find some new menu magic. Lui's also has such a fun feeling w/ the brick oven, giant fork w/ lit-up strings of spaghetti, artwork (with a sense of humor!) and even a classic '50s pinball machine. And where do you ever go these days when you actually see the owners in the store??? They're the same folks who own Molly's and Jesse's. Count all 3 for different menus and atmospheres, but great people, great service, great food and great attitude. And the owners are so good. . .they once told me: "the only reason to be in business is to create a customer--and a customer who will always come back". They're not 'chain' folks--they live right in the UV, and shop at the same stores as you--meet 'em & you'll love 'em! As Schwarznegger has said: "I'll be back!"

Whenever friends or relatives are visiting the area the question always comes up, "where should we go to dinner?" I have in the past, and will continue in the future to recommend Lui Lui to anyone who asks. Locally owned, and operated might not mean much in some parts of the country but it does in this neck of the woods and Lui Lui fits the bill. Easy access from the interstate, loads of on-site parking and whether it be a seat at the bar, a large family gathering, an on site event, or just a casual night out with friends you will find what you need at Lui Lui.

We love Lui Lui's...as residents in Italy but originally from the area, Lui Lui is our standard family and friend gathering place. We happen to know first hand that the owners got a lot of inspiration in the old country and we attest the the autheticity, attention to detail and professionalism in every last detail. Excellent antipasto platters, party platters and pastas. Very child-friendly! Try the Rocchio Pizza at lunch...gotta love those little carmelized onions!

Tried and true with friendly service and a hearty menu! My family has been dining at LUI LUI's at least once a week for a few years now, and we keep going back. Lui Lui's offers contemporary bistro atmosphere with plenty of comfortable seating. We love their cozy booths, and outdoor riverside patio dining in the summer. When the Red Sox are playing we scoot up the the bar and have our favorite meal while watching the game. Unlike another "Italian Style" restaurant in the Upper Valley where it feels like a crowded cafeteria, Lui Lui's is always busy, but never elbow to elbow dining. Their menu offers traditional Italian American fare with generous helpings. They keep up with trends of the times and offer new menu items to satisfy the Upper Valley's savvy patrons, while perfecting the "tried true and traditional" items we all love.

Dining experiences are relative to the other available options in a general area. As far as the Upper Valley is concerned, a great place to go. Unless you feel like driving a few hours to get a meal, I would recommend Lui Lui. It is better than an Applebees or Ninety Nine.

the fact that this restaurant gets 3.5 stars out of 5 is indicative of a lack of good dining choices (and sophisticated palates) in the uv. i'm no food snob, but this is italian fast food. the dishes are different EVERY time i've gone there, so there's no consistently good dish. this might have something to do with their blatantly apparent employee turnover problem... i NEVER see the same waiters/waitresses in there, or prep people. unfortunately, that often means mistaken orders, longer waits, messed-up dishes, and seating problems. there are no standout dishes, and even their best attempts at originality are just plain off. they mix weird things, even on their drink menu... cucumber mojito? and even with the standards, they don't do them right... they describe dishes in their menu as having "cream sauce," but basically everything that's not marinara is just alfredo. the oil is gross, as far as i'm concerned... i can taste the anchovy paste overwhelmingly in it. the foremost thing that bothers me about this restaurant is its lack of originality... the menu is a dumbed-down bertucci's doppelganger, the all-in-black hostesses are so chain restaurant-y, the decorations are run of the mill, and i noticed they recently took the oil bottle off the table... just like stella's in lyme does, which recently opened. they're basically copycats. i will refuse the next baby shower/wedding shower/bday party invite i get there. my advice? head to three tomatoes for comparable prices, and WAY better food and service, hands-down.

The rolls ARE very good, and the prices are very reasonable, but lunch yesterday was disappointing: food cool when it should have been hot, they got one order wrong, very young waitstaff & hostesses less than enthusiastic and a bit careless.

Very good service and food on our first adventure. The food is mostly standard Italian fare AND it is every well done. From our experience the ingredients used were of the highest quality and very fresh. Not skimping on the ingredients is the secret to running a restaurant that caters to a varied clientele.

We went on a Friday night (about 5:45 pm) and it was the perfect time for a family with children. The portions (even the kids menu) are large so beware. We ordered one large salad and an one entree to split between two adutls. Should have done the same for our kids.

The food here is consistently good. The wait hasn't been too bad the few times we've been. It does get pretty noisy so going during off peak hours is suggested.

A consistently good place to eat for the last 20+ years. Their recent additions to their menu are great... my favorite is the aspargus and lobster pasta dish! Can be very be busy, especially on weekends, so plan ahead! If you haven't been there for a while, it is time to go back!

Well, if you have a bunch of kids or have a hankering for dipping bread in olive/garlic oil while screaming, "WHAT DID YOU SAY?" to the person sitting in the next chair....this is your kinda place!!! Food is ok, and I LOVE the beeper thingy I get to walk around with for the hour and one half that I am waiting for that table.
