The service was great and the atmosphere was very comfortable. But that isn't enough for me to return. Hard to describe, but the food flavor was a bit strange. Not gross, and it certainly was presented nicely, but it just tasted odd. And for the prices I paid, I expected to really enjoy my food. Even the bread served was not enjoyable. Clearly there are those who enjoy this place, but it just didn't suit my palette. Sad really, because I was really hoping to find a new favorite place to dine!

Sometimes I've had great food, sometimes less so. The atmosphere is superb, the service is great, but the cooking just can't compare with that of the original owner, who is now down at Tip Top Cafe and Tuckerbox.

The food at the Pear is eclectic, inspired, and beautifully presented. However, we have had the same waitress every time, and she is SO rude. It's like we're a burden on her or something, and I hate being rude to service people (because I am one), but she just brings out the worst in us. She's unpleasant, short, and she never smiles. Also, the last time we went in, it was just us and one other couple in the restaurant and they placed us right next to the window on a frigid night... even my fiance, who never gets cold, was freezing, and when we asked if we could move a little more inward, the waitress AND the hostess acted as if we were putting them out. It was quite annoying, seeing as how there was no one else there! Luckily, the proximity to our home and the good food outweighs the crappy service. Oh- they should offer a vegan special once in a while. All the vegetarian options are covered in cheese!

A very pleasant place to enjoy a fine twist on some standard fare. It is house in an old mill next to the Waits River at the south end of the main street. The building has nice very thick stone walls and wood beams galore and creates an inviting yet cozy atmosphere. We have visited here every few months since moving from Washington, DC a few years back and have never been disappointed. They offer a fine selection of microbrews as well, though the small bar tends to be occupied by dinner guests.
