Salubre (pronounced Sal-ooh-bray) Trattoria is new Mediterranean restaurant located in Hanover next to The Orient in Carpaccio's old space. Don't make the mistake of thinking that it is a reincarnation of Carpaccio or, for that matter, an Italian restaurant - Salubre's cuisine is more generally Mediterranean and offers Spanish and Greek influences in addition to Italian.Your Review

My fiurst visit to Salubre was Friday before Labour Day, 9/4/09. Very nice wine selection and good prices. I was thoroughly impressed with their Ceasar Salad with smoke bacon, It worked very well and very flavourful. I ordered the Barramundi Risotto and was most impressed with the fish and the rice. The fish was nicely grilled to perfection with just the right seasoning. The Risotto was well preapred. Dessert was a surprise - surprsingly good. We sampled the Italian ice with water mellon and Grand Marnier. I was at first shocked by the combination but was delightfully surprised how well they worked together.
Robert, our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. If I have to criticize anything was that he was overly attentive. Being a brand new restaurant, I would have liked the owner to come introduced themselves. I will definitely go back!! |
Salubre is now open for dinner Wednesday - Sunday, and for Sunday Brunch 10-2.
Really superb chef-designed, Italian-Mediterranean menu. Quality focus: wild-caught fish only, no hormones in meat, focus on locally-sourced, organic foods. Relaxed, low-key, friendly atmosphere. Refreshing price approach, 10-20% lower than you'd expect. Check out the menu! |
