Description
Tuckerbox will begin staying open till 8PM on Friday and Saturday starting October 10th. They're also in the process of updating their menu, and will be offering quick pre-made sandwiches and salads in addition to the regular menu. Check back soon; we'll post the new menu as soon as we can get a copy of it.
Located in the old Como Va space in White River Junction (convenient to the Amtrak station, The Center for Comic Book Studies, and The Hotel Coolidge), Tuckerbox offers coffee, espresso drinks, tea and light fare (salads, sandwiches, pastries, and for breakfast, beignets, frittata and blinis).
The environment is open and comfortable, with a variety of sizes of tables as well as comfy chairs and a couch. They provide customers with free wifi, so you'll often see one or more people there with their laptops (as I am now).
You order your drinks and food at the counter and anything that's not ready immediately is brought to your table (although strictly speaking they don't offer table service, they also cleared the table, so you're not bussing your own).
All their coffees are organic, fair-trade coffees.
A note on the name, in case you're wondering: "tuckerbox" is a reference to an Australian corner store which you might go to to pick up a pie or some unusual local food. Or it may be a reference to a train's dining car.

Thu Jun 26, 2008 by romkeyI just had a very pleasant lunch at Tuckerbox... the food is excellent, the space is comfortable and the prices are quite good. I wish they had a little more variety on the menu, but considering that it's a small space and mostly a coffee shop, having a limited menu is quite reasonable. |
