Good falafel, and nice atmosphere, though I get the sense that many people come there just to use their computer and have a place to hang out in all day. There should be a system to move them on their way and free up tables for those who want to eat and leave.

i hear the food is great, but every time i stop by, either the kitchen has already closed, or the restaurant is closed even though the schedule on the window says that they are open. very frustrating. it's a nice space and a good location. i just really wish they would stay open later/more.

For the food, the atmosphere, et al., I give Tuckerbox an easy four stars. Everything is made there in the TINY kitchen such as fresh cookies and a plethora of tasty sandwiches (with daily specials). Baristas know the difference between a cappucino and a latte-yes!- and they use great VT coffee- double yes!
The downside? Some of the staff can be a little "too cool"..and they have extremely wonky hours! They aren't open on Mondays, despite what the schedule above, sign on the window, AND the website says. Also, not open on Sundays. Bummer. We tried to go last tuesday and without warning they were closed for inventory (couldn't do it the other days they are closed?) Maybe this is a winter thing but for goodness sakes, publish this info!

At any rate, Tuckerbox is a place to go out of your way for if you want a tasty, casual lunch and stellar coffee....if you choose the right day to go, that is.

My wife and I would have to respectfully disagree with “foodjunkie’s” review of the tuckerbox
Although I cannot personally attest to the blt, my wife did have it, loved it and agreed with the positive reviews of the blt posted. She says she liked the thick cut bacon. The girls at the tuckerbox told her it was hand cut. I found the prices to be fair considering they are organic, fair trade, and homemade. They brew their own Chai, maybe that is more expensive then the boxed chai you find at most other places. But alas I am a fan of everything positive in white river jct. so my take on things might be subjective. I would urge folks not to take my word or any one else’s and go experience a place for them selves

There seems to be a lot of talk about the BLT at Tuckerbox. My fiance and I went there to check out the buzz recently and I have to say that the results were less than what we'd hoped for. The BLT's were okay -- the bread was well toasted, the mayo, lettuce, and tomato plentiful. The bacon didn't lack in quantity, but it was thick, chewy bacon, not at all crispy and light, as I prefer on my BLT. Additionally, the price was, in our opinion, too high considering all you got was the sandwich and pickle -- no chips or anything. My fiance got a coke which came in a can and was also overpriced. I also got a chai latte to go, which was okay but not worth the price over a regular cup of tea. The atmosphere was okay -- the wireless internet was clearly an appealing option as there were several people with laptops, but it certainly wasn't the hip coffee joint I was expecting it to be. Bottom line, we'll likely not be going back unless we want a coffee drink and the use of the wireless internet.

I hate to contradict a sincere review, but I had a BLT today and it had tons of bacon on it. The deliciously sauteed bread is a bit insubstantial for the content, but it was delicious nvertheless. Maybe they need to toast it a bit before they sautee it. But it's better than the mouth hurting sandwich offerings of Allechante.

I went December 30 to try the BLT. Oh, gosh, what a disappointment. Everything tasted wonderful, but it was mostly mayonnaise and lettuce. Just one slice of tomato and one slice of bacon (admittedly thick and tasty). The sandwich was about 4" thick and beautiful to look at, but the bread wasn't toasted; it was sauteed and it kept slipping in my hand. (I like my BLTs toasted.) The mayo oozed out and the sandwich hit my nose because it was so thick. Most of the ingredients fell out as I ate, and I ended up eating tomato, bacon and lettuce with a toothpick. I was grateful for the thick, large paper napkin because I needed it. That said, I'll return, because the atmosphere is charming and the coffee is fabulous.

This place made my day. The falafel sandwich was so incredibly good. Extra points for making it nicely spiced and for the sauce. They did a great job with the space, the service is wonderful, beverages great. I am so happy to have a great lunch place. Bravo to tuckerbox!

After reading reviews here I finally made it down to Tuckerbox. They did a nice job renovating the Como Va space into a great looking cafe space. Good seating and cute chalk boards offer a space for all the cartoon studies folks in downtown WRJ to doodle. Nice touches all around. I had a chai and falafel for lunch. They doid a soy milk substitutes on the latte for free which was cool, as compared to 60 cents at a Starbucks. The tea and my meal came out very quickly and the falefel was delicious. The sammich consisted of 4 good size chickpea fritters along with lettuce and big red tomato slices. Instead of the usual tahini and yogurt sauce you'd expect they had a nice garlicky tasting sauce which reminded me a bunch of the dipping sauce Tip Top has with their bread/rolls. All of this wrapped in a nice warm pita made for a good lunch. I am especially happy since Murphy's has removed the "Green Mountain Wrap" from the menu limiting UV falafels to the one available at Lous which is just so-so. So a big Yay! to Tuckerbox for being a new good new UV lunch spot.

In the space of a week, two different people told me that I had to go to the Tuckerbox and try their BLT, since it was the "Best BLT Ever!".

I'll have to admit, this was one fine BLT, with everything really working for it. The bacon was extra thick cut and perfectly cooked (tender in the middle, crunchy at the edges, no burnt bits). The tomato was fresh and not soggy. The lettuce nicely leafed. The mayonnaise not overly thick. And the bread well buttered and toasted.

Best in the UV? Probably.

Best ever? Not yet. But in the running. :)

I just had a very pleasant lunch at Tuckerbox... the food is excellent, the space is comfortable and the prices are quite good. I wish they had a little more variety on the menu, but considering that it's a small space and mostly a coffee shop, having a limited menu is quite reasonable.
