We went to the Weathervane for Mother's Day. Now I have had a few disappointing meals here, but today was excellent. We sat in the bar area, and the girl that waited on us was excellent. She was on top of her game, even when the kitchen threw her a curve. She was very apologetic for the delay in the meal coming out to all the guest at our table, even offered to bring us something while we waited. The scallops, whole clams were cooked perfect. A real surprise to me as the last time they weren't. Hats off to the management for whatever they did to change this place, I'd go back again and even recommend people go there. If you like fried food, this is the place to go.

Ugh. It's too bad they can't find a way to make good seafood without frying everything. But, there must be a market for it?

This is a local chain which seems to fill the void of not having a predictable larger seafood chain like Red Lobster in the UV. I have only been to the Weathervane once for a takeout lobster roll. It was on a lightly buttered/toasted NE hotdog roll, and the lobster meat was pretty finely shredded with a very light mayo and chopped celery. The mayo was a little too light for my liking and I dislike celery in lobster rolls. But overall it was good. The rest of the menu there seems to be heavily based on fried seafood which is always going to taste alright based on the fact that it is hard to mess up. And what doesn't taste good fried? But isn't going to amaze anyone with big fish flavors. The place seems to be a hit with the older grey haired crowd, from what I have seen. So they must be doing something right.

Weathervane is a local chain seafood restaurant that specializes in fried seafood. The place seems a bit in disarray every time we've been and the service is disjointed. The food is ok given you really can't mess up fried foods with the exception of burning it. Seeing another website's reviewer comment on Weathervane having a dirty kitchen, somehow I can see that here. I'll have to pay attention to what the health inspection score is if I go there again.
